Czech Home Improvement Platform Adam Raises €3 Million

Adam, a Prague-based start-up modernising the way clients find reliable and available tradespeople without the hassle of long wait times and confusing price lists, has raised €3 million in late-seed funding from Brighteye to support the start-up’s big plans ahead. After a successful expansion to 11 European countries, Adam now plans to extend their services beyond Europe and into more construction trades.

Adam makes it easy to book tradespeople online. Till date, the company has focused on painting services and apartment renovations. Year-on-year, Adam has served three times the number of projects and boasts more than 15,000 completed jobs. “Undoubtedly, traditional craftsmanship is in need of modernisation. That said, no one has yet managed to solve all three decisive factors – quality, availability, and price – simultaneously. We decided to tackle this complex situation one trade at a time. Our vision is that one day you will be able to build an entire house through Adam,” sad Adam’s co-founder Roman Sysel.

    Talking Points

  • Adam, a Czech start-up aiming to modernize the way clients find reliable and available tradespeople, has closed a €3m late-seed funding round
  • Brighteye, a European EdTech VC, backs the start-up’s future expansion plans
  • At the end of 2022, Adam received support from Czech Presto Ventures, which is their very first VC investor (with a €1m seed)

The start-up has ambitious plans for further development. The new investment will be used to strengthen their position in markets where the service is already successful. Additionally, Adam plans to expand into new cities and countries outside of Europe, broaden its offerings to new trades, and build a development team to enhance automation and further improve the customer experience.

“We are excited to support Adam’s mission to modernise a traditional industry which has seen no change for decades. While providing their clients with a hassle-free experience, Adam also facilitates continuous training and professional development for the craftsmen, empowering these professionals to expand their services and improve their competitiveness. This not only benefits the craftsmen but also ensures customers receive high-quality services,” commented Ben Wirz, Founding Partner at Brighteye.

Trade professionals generally spend a lot of time with site inspections, work planning, and customer communication. Adam takes care of everything for them, allowing tradespeople to triple the number of jobs they can handle in a month.

Jakub Dvorak, Co-founder of Adam

The support and optimisation the platform provides helps contractors grow their business and take on more complex and better-paid projects. “Trade professionals generally spend a lot of time with site inspections, work planning, and customer communication. Adam takes care of everything for them, allowing tradespeople to triple the number of jobs they can handle in a month. This translates into a massive increase in efficiency, enabling them to charge less. In other words, customers save money while craftsmen earn more. It’s a win-win situation all around,” explained Adam’s co-founder Jakub Dvorak.

The platform replaces complicated price lists with a simple and transparent online calculator, which immediately shows the customer the estimated job cost and allows them to request the home-improvement service with one click. Adam then connects the customer with a professional available at the desired time and location, and ensures the job is completed successfully.
